'and the curtain opens, brazilian crowd'
hello, everyone!
this is how a legendary radio announcer called Fiori Gigliotti starts his transmissions. he is still alive and announcing games. i am used to let the tv mute and listen to the radio because the game becomes pretty more excited!
anyway, today i will introduce the teams of the brazilian championship:
this is Atlético Paranaense. It is from Paraná state (very good to live in) and it is 2-time brazilian champion.
this is Botafogo from Rio de Janeiro (maybe the most known city from Brazil). Its symbol has only one star. and coincidentaly, it is just 1-time champion.
this is Cruzeiro from Minas Gerais state. in statistics it has just one title but actually it's because the championship's name has changed in 1970.
this is Figueirense from Santa Catarina state. By the way this state has a beautiful shore area! about the club, well, it is awful.
this is Flamengo from Rio de Janeiro. the most traditional club in brazil. in statistics it has the biggest group of cheerers. it is 5-time champion. the club which won the championship more times. but nowadays it is on a deplorable situation. no money, no players, no victories, anyway.
this is Fluminense, the greatest Flamengo's rival. by the way the matches between them are nicknamed 'flaflu'. it is just 1-time champion. but it's because of the same Cruzeiro's problem (the name of the championship), otherwise it would be... 2-time champion. wow, what a HUUUUUUUUGE difference if we consider the titles are from 1970 and 1984... hahaha
this is Fortaleza, from Ceará state. It is awful too. last year it played the second division (worse than the first)
this is Goiás, from Goiás state. it has been a surprise on the lasts championships. good management and administration makes it a strong team. but it is just 1-time champion.
this is Grêmio, from Rio Grande do Sul state (it means southern great river). it is 2-time champion. it always is a good candidate for winning but it's been a long time it doesn't win.
this is Internacional, the greatest Grêmio's rival. it is 3-time champion, but it's been a long time it happened (1975, 1976 and 1979). nowadays it has a good team, but we never knowif it will stand until the end.
this is Juventude, from Rio Grande do Sul too. but it has never won the brazilian championship. at least not in the first division.
this is Palmeiras, from São Paulo state. 4-time champion, it is the team my brother supports. anyway, it can be on a bad condition but always let the oponents worried.
this is Paraná, from Paraná state. nothing to talk about it. almost fell to the second division last year. awful, isn't it?
this is Ponte Preta (it means black bridge), from São Paulo state's midland. never won a brazilian championship.
this is Santa Cruz, from Pernambuco state. it came to the first division last year. and maybe it falls to the second once again in 2006.
This is Santos, from the São Paulo's shore area. It is respected because nothing less than PELÉ and ROBINHO played on it. need i say more?
This is São Caetano, from São Paulo's metropolitan area. a very good team, known by its 'vice' titles.
This is São Paulo, from... São Paulo state! It has won the championship 3 times. but it's been a long time too (1977, 1986 and 1991). it is the strongest team undoubtely.
Finally, this is Vasco da Gama, from Rio de Janeiro. although it is 4-time champion, it is known by its president, who is a corrupt and arrogant person. anyway, it is on a deplorable situation too.ok, folks, i think this post is long enough.
just one more thing! for those who have difficult to spell letters like 'ã', 'ç', 'á', 'é' etc. tomorrow i will post a quick guide, ok? hahaha
see you!
